Gonzalo Alvarez

I’m originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I grew up in Peekskill, NY. I graduated from California State University San Marcos with a degree in Biological Sciences, where I first developed an interest in immunology and metabolic signaling. Following graduation, I spent a year as a volunteer in the Gutkind Lab at UC San Diego where I gained a keen interest in immuno-oncology and immune checkpoint therapy. I joined the Kersten Lab with the goal of expanding my technical expertise and becoming more directly involved in impactful research involving the tumor microenvironment. Outside the lab, I enjoy spending time with friends, playing or watching soccer, and going to the movies.
